DMV Openings Get notified

The DMV appointment you need, weeks sooner.

Tell us your offices, your service, and the dates and times you can make. When a cancellation opens a slot, we see it on our next check and email you, so you book it first.

One email when California goes live, nothing else. We never ask for a license number or date of birth, and we never book or hold a slot.

Every office in the state, with its next open date.

187 California DMV offices in six regions. We read the public schedule for each one and keep the latest drive test date beside it, so you can see where a request would pay off before you make one. Office visits (REAL ID, licenses, renewals) are on each office's page.

Get one email the moment a match appears

The office, the date and time, and a link to the official scheduler. Nothing else, nothing promotional. Most DMV cancellations are taken within minutes, so a reader that never sleeps beats refreshing the page by hand.

Book it yourself, then let the request rest

Booking happens on the DMV's own site, in your own name, in about a minute. Your request keeps watching until you pause it or its 30 days run out, and it ends on its own.

Any appointment the DMV books online.

Drive tests are the scarcest, so they lead this page, but a request can watch any of these. Pick the one you need when you create it. The names are the California DMV's own.

  • Drive tests

    • Drive test, automobile
    • Drive test, commercial
    • Drive test, motorcycle

Commercial and motorcycle tests run at specific offices; your request can name them.

  • Office visits for a license or ID

    • First-time REAL ID application
    • First-time driver's license application
    • Driving permit
    • Renew a license or ID that needs a visit, including seniors 70 and over
    • Replace a license or ID
    • Commercial license application
    • Reduced or no-fee ID card
    • Reinstate a driving privilege or remove a record restriction
    • Name change or gender category request

One appointment type at the DMV, many reasons to need it.

  • Vehicle registration visits

    • Vehicle registration appointment

Renewals and transfers that need an office.

  • Evaluations the DMV schedules by notice

    • Knowledge test re-evaluation
    • Supplemental driving performance evaluation

If the DMV sent you a notice, these are the appointments it means.

What we never do.

Three refusals, written down so you can hold us to them.

  • Book, hold or resell an appointment.

We only tell you one is open. Booking happens on the official site, by you, free.

  • Ask for your license, permit, date of birth or Social Security number.

We hold an email address, your request, and a payment record. That is all.

  • Pretend to be the DMV.

DMV Openings is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with the California DMV.

Two plans. The difference is how many offices we watch.

Both run 30 days and end on their own. Both cover any service, check every few minutes, and are refunded in full if nothing ever matched.

Working prices. Nothing is on sale yet. Leave your email and we will tell you when California goes live.

  • One office

    $9for 30 days

We watch one office for you.

  • Up to three offices

    $14for 30 days

We watch up to 3 offices for you.

Tell me when it's live

Plain answers.

Do you book the appointment for me?

No, and we never will. We email you the moment a slot opens at an office in your request, with a link to the official California DMV scheduler. You book it there yourself, free, in about a minute.

What do you need from me?

An email address, the offices you would go to, the service you need, and the dates and times you can make. We never ask for a license number, permit number, date of birth or Social Security number.

Do I need an account?

Yes. Your email is your account, and you sign in with a link we send you, so there is no password. You pay for a plan first, then create your request, and you can edit or pause it any time. You can move up to the larger plan during the term.

How fast are the alerts?

We check every few minutes around the clock and email you as soon as we see a match. We will publish our measured detection time once our first long run reports. Until then we make no speed claim.

Which appointments does this cover?

Any appointment the California DMV books online: automobile, commercial and motorcycle drive tests; office visits for REAL ID, first licenses, permits, renewals, replacements, ID cards, reinstatements and name changes; vehicle registration visits; and the knowledge test re-evaluation and driving performance evaluation the DMV schedules by notice. The full list is on this page.

What if nothing opens up?

Cancellations happen every day, most of them the day before. If your 30 days end without a single alert that matched your request, reply to any email from us and we refund the plan in full.

Is this affiliated with the DMV?

No. DMV Openings is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with the California DMV or any government agency.

Tell me when it's live.

California first. One email when requests open, with the final prices. Nothing before that.

One email when California goes live, nothing else. We never ask for a license number or date of birth, and we never book or hold a slot.
